WRFC Touch team

Touch develops fitness, speed, ball handling and space awareness skills, and is a great alternative to full contact rugby. Indeed, for those contact colleagues used to playing occasional 'touch' during training, we play a faster, quicker variant, requiring the defence to retreat 5 metres after each touch. And, although it is primarily a Summer sport, we play Touch all year round.

The game is open to everyone, of both sexes, over 14-years-of-age and we welcome new players – whether you've ever held a rugby ball, or not. We play on a 70m x 50m pitch, with 6-a-side on the pitch and a team (in competitions) of 14, allowing for rolling substitutions – and breather after every 2-3 minutes!

In Winter we train/play under lights at Barnard Fields every Thursday evening from 7.45pm to 9pm. For more information please email Andy Verney or Mark Scott.

There are competitions all year round, and we can signpost regional and national pathways for those who would like to play representative rugby.
