2018/2019 DERBY DAY No.1!
Wymondham travel the short distance to Little Melton to face the old enemy. Crusaders. Knowing that they cannot tread lightly, The Red and Blacks are hoping to bolster another win following on from their fine season opener.
Training has been good this week with selection giving coaches headaches due to the vast pool of talent available for them to pick from.
Minimal changes have been made which sees the experienced Jamie Boggan returning from holiday to take his place in the front row alongside former Bury prop Luke Beales and Hooker Tom Masters unchanged from last week.
The second row has in its ranks, new club member Nathan Wilson and line out expert Liam Browning. Liam having made an impact from the bench last week.
Last Saturday saw Andy MacAlister pick up a leg injury which rules him out this time. As Wymondham have such a high depth of squad, second row/back row and Club Captain Josh Wright makes his way into the 6 shirt partnered with last weeks MOM Ethan Holmwood at 7. Si Darby 1stXV Skipper continues on from his impressive season opener at No.8.
In the backs, Auden Airdrie continues to impress at scrum half from his good form in pre-season and proving that he is becoming an old head.
In the Fly Half seat we have the quick stepping 18 year old Charlie Delaney who helped set up and control a flurry of tries last week.
Jamie Hunter and Josh 'Dogg' Cousins retain their positions on the wings having proving their abilities in link play and finishing skills. The centers are beefed up with the hard tackling Ollie Charlish and strong running Tom Midgley, both hoping to create attacking play and ball retention.
Finally, in Full Back, Alex ' Ziggy' Wigney remains at full back having shown that he can hit a strong line and counter attack in the right areas.
On the bench we have a strong set up, with forward moving prop Ollie Coleman who is a proven scrummager. Next is Sam Head who is a devastating back row player and strong over the ball. Finally, we welcome to the club, Josh Ludkin as backs replacement. Josh has impressed in training as a strong runner and good decision making centre.
Wymondham know that every decision needs to be clinical. Head Coach Tom Armes has been emphasising this week that the boys must play their game with intent and never back down.
Kick Off is at 15.00 at Crusaders.
We hope to see you all there. All Welcome.
