Wymondham Colts start Cup campaign with a win

Wymondam Colts started their Eastern Counites Cup campaign with a 26-10 win over last years losing finalists West Notfolk.
The home team started the stronger and after a period of sustained pressure Pat Walton broke awayy from a ruck to sprint in for the first score. Continued pressure resulted in another try, this time Dan Clark took a crash ball to go over from close range, Matt Carter converting for a 12-0 half time lead.
The Wymondam pressure continued early in the second half and Shaun Spriddell muscled his way over to touch down, Matt again converting.
West then lifted their game and despite stout defending cossed the line to open their account.
Play moved to the other end of the pitch and Sam Gant picked from the base of a scrum to go over unapposed to touch down between the posts, Matt again converting to make the score 26-5.
The final try of the game came from West after a series of pick and drives, the conversion was unsuccessful leaving the final score26-10.
The next cup fixture Is away at Holt in two weeks with a friendly home game against Walsham next week.
