The Red And Blacks put on a show for a packed crowd.
ymondham went into this week with another local derby with, like their opponents Thetford, 2 wins and all was to play for.
Wymondham had a good home crowd with supporters at the pre-match lunch. The game kicked off and hot footed fly half gathered the ball to make a full length run involving many side steps to score under 1 minute after the whistle.
Now with the mood set, The Red and Blacks knew that they has capitalise on this early success. Hard runs and good commitment on the ball by the outstanding Wymondham forwards helped to show the style of rugby the home side wanted to play.
Thetford began to ease closer into the home sides half with Wymondham giving away a penalty which was duly kicked, to which Wymondham had a carbon copy 3 point penalty kick moments later.
Wymondham were now starting to work their phases and reply shortly after the penalty with a score in the corner. Wymondham now 2 tries ahead did not want to lapse but, quick play down the wing resulted in an away try.
The line outs were working out well for Wymondham and keeping possession was key to working moves. One line out was taken from a penalty kick in the corner, which was driven well my the marauding forward pack, for Luke Beales to take the score.
Thetford kicked off and managed to work the ball back to their possession, resulting in a try.
Wymondham had to put pressure on before half time and work good passage of play and 17 phases were counted resulting in a try in the corner. Scored by Chris Collins-Reed.
The second half started well, with the pressure from the first half now turned up further and Wymondham wanted to increase the score knowing that they had the bonus point.
The pressure saw a high intensity beginning and great ball carrying by the forwards for the backs to support when given good ball by the forwards.
Wymondham managed to squeeze out a fifth try and further increase their lead before the game took a slight turn with firstly Jamie Boggan recieving a yellow card for an infringement at the ruck closely followed by 5 minutes later another yellow card for Auden Airdrie for a high tackle. With Wymondham now down to 13 men, they needed to pull together as a unit, which really had shown. Thetford unfortunatly worked a try in just before Wymondham went back up to 15 men.
With 2 minutes left to play, Wymondham managed hang onto the ball until the final whistle to take a good strong league win and 5 league points.
