Youngster Ethan Holmwood racks up 15 points in opening day hat-trick.
Wymondham kicked of their season with over a half century of points.
As both teams had many changes from the previous season, no one could predict the outcome.
The game started well with a try within 7 mins for the red and blacks from Welshman Jamie Hunter
As Wymondham lay on a surge of pressure from running forwards, flanker Ethan Holmwood
made a break to score a clean try under the posts, duly converted by youngster Charlie Delaney
As Wymondham found their footing and not letting West Norfolk into their half, Holmwood took it upon himself to score a further 2 tries. Both Converted by Delaney.
In the 29th minute and knowning they had the bonus point, Wymondham could now work with ease to put more points on the board. Delaney darting through and conveting his own.
Again the forwards made huge pressure against a strong willed opponent, Josh Wright
made and aggressive charge through the defensive to offload to Holmwood, who could then pop quick ball to new recruit prop Luke Beales
, who managed a 1 hand pass to Hunter for a score in the corner. Converted by Delaney.
The second half took a speedy beginning with a neat try from the quick stepping Delaney. Converted.
The final try of Wymondham’s game came from home grown winger Alex ‘Ziggy’ Wigney in the corner. Unconverted.
The Red and Blacks made personnel changes along with stepping off the gas, allowed West Norfolk to score tries in the 63, 70 and, 73 minutes. 2 converted.
The final score of 52 – 19 was a great reflection of the 2 months of pre-season and hard work that the men had put in.
